Okay, I have told right now Mrs. Angela Merkel to agree with Mr. Nicklaus Sarkozky the worldwide synchronization of "LMT" (Lampertheim Meridian Time) with "DMP" (Dompierre Meridian Time).

She just said : "Aie, aie, Sir" ... as allways.

So from now on, "LMT" and "DMT" are the same. A small step for Merkel & Sarko, a big step for mankind.

I guess Mrs. Merkel is a fan of SL.

Second Life - Page 4 Empty
PostSubject: a Collective 3D Gallery???   Second Life - Page 4 EmptySun 9 Nov - 16:45

Dear Alain, My Friend

MiXed
The Collective 3D Gallery???

Do you want to include Second Life in the collective's events?

Just like that? Boom! -- the next MiXed event?

That would seem to compromise your support of independant, not to mention, non-commercial projects.

If you want to support capitalism: in effect, inviting all our blaxxun user friends to become SL members, then do not mislead that MixED is a collective (a term for revolution): change the name of MiXed to something else. And, then represent yourself as whatever you really are.

if you need material for the gallery, you can support all 3D, and breathe all air, and suffer us all to breathe all air, but doing that can mean countering some revolutionary principles that some hold dear, that some thought you held dear.

I will be in touch via Cyber-Cafe
But, I now wish I was staying home.

PostSubject: Re: Second Life   Second Life - Page 4 EmptySun 9 Nov - 17:14

What the hell about SL ?

1 - first of all I must say/admit that the fisrt reason why I had not been able to fuck it , is that because my dear

friend swaffette was / is there .
I mean that she has great joy to be there and what she was doing for free during years ( making blaxxun avatars for

friends ) , now she is doing the same , but getting money from . Why not ? I can't blame her , she is still a darling

Smile

2 - I am not sure if I could tell the same about other persons there , LOL , but it is another question .

3 - MixED went to 3Dplanets , vr4all , Lutece , seamless3D , X-robotica , then SL , then ABnet , then 3DXplorer ,then

..etc ..
What we told many times is that WE need a form to know where people are , in real time ..
X-Robotica has that , ABnet too ..

After that , people could jump and / or choose the platform they prefer .
But for the moment , we must admit that we are a few on "alternatives" , it is a fact ..

4 - Why MixED go next step on SL ? Just because of Delappe . I adore his work there , and all he did , and the MixED team

agree ...
Btw I am very proud to show and let know what he does .
As he made his last performance on SL , we go there to meet friends with him .
I hope to meet MixED/LOuiZe/X-Robotica/etc friends there ! ( on dec 5 Smile

5 - Btw , Dellape has a very critic way to use SL , as he has a very critic way to use video games ,

so , no .. I dont leave my pants in front of SL , LOL , ( I made that in other moment LOL ) ,
and I let free to support open and free alternatives ( and more if they are made by friends lol )

6 - Scuse my dear friend Colin , but I dont think it is comprommission
with "not independant , and commercial projects",
btw SL exists and why not to know it a bit before saying it is the Devil ? Yes , it is a Devil , LOL , but Karl Marx studied capitalism before having being able to kick it LOL Smile

PostSubject: Re: Second Life   Second Life - Page 4 EmptySun 9 Nov - 17:45

Dear Colin,

We had this discussion in the Mixed team aout to go or not on Second life.
My point of view is : we're going to Second Life not to promote it but to promote an great artist who made a really interesting perfomance in Second Life. It's not really the same thing.

Sorry to use french but i don't know how to explain it better in english maybe someone will help me to translate Smile

I don't like Second Life very much about the commercial things but for me, it would be strange to talk about something happened on SL and not to be there.

And i'm agree with Alain, there is no shame to SL. There is no better way to critic than to try it.

I'm really hoping you will come to try it with us and meet a very good artist Joseph Delappe. Smile

Karl Marx studied capitalism.

I guess it is your turn.

Sure we know you are friends with dear Swaffette, sure she can do what she wants. sure some other guy intrigues you

Sure you can list the places you sponsored blah blah

Sure SL can be the Devil. But, I don't think Karl Marx invited everyone to vacation with the Devil-- that would be counter-active, counter-revolutionary, counter-productive, and unwise.

And don't say I invite peeps to vacation with robots -- that would be even more trivial.

ty Ferson

Joseph Dieppe or Madonna -- what's the difference?

Big Money went into putting Second Life in our brains, with its exploitation of horrible popular culture. consumerism, and shallow. juvenile sexual appeal, and all in bad 3D.

I would love to pay my respects to 2nd Life with you but I do not respect that kind of exploitation, nor such exploitation for profit, nor the promotion and exploitation of so much crappy 3D for profit.

Let Joseph Dieppe visit US if you must adore his work so much (BUT DON'T TAKE US TO 2ND LIFE) -- btw the film industry is full of hundreds of other great 3D artists-- one named HOLGER GRAHN did SPEED RACER. Maybe something more relevant is better.

I cant polemic , Colin ..

plz look a bit , when time , how Delappe worked on mas media culture

i.e.

Quote :
On Sunday, October 3rd, 2004, artist Joseph DeLappe re-enacted the first, 2004 Presidential Debate between Senator John Kerry and President George Bush in the PC online first person shooter game, "Battlefield Vietnam".

The performance/re-enactment involved typing into "Battlefield Vietnam" online the entire transcript from the first presidential debate. DeLappe switched his profile, or name, during the gameplay from "George Bush" to "John Kerry", as needed, to recreate, through the instant, text messaging system used in the online game, the entire 14,000+ words. The transcript, used in printed form from the NYtimes on the web, were typed into the online gameplay over the course of an eight hour session, visiting multiple game servers in the US and abroad.

so , it is not only a question or SecondLife or not ..

Warhol too ( and as you said in the interview ) worked on mass media ..

We promote nothing , Colin , we look at where some interesting things happen .

PostSubject: the media is the message   Second Life - Page 4 EmptySun 9 Nov - 20:50

DeLappe's deliberate hacking of Battlefied Vietnam together with a political debate into the game's online chat does impress me moderately, even though witty exploitations of the Vietnam tragedy rarely do.

DeLappe's presentation of political hypocrasy may be a witty satirical protest -but everyone already knows that thousands of Vietnamese and Americans are dead. And we are in the process of moving on from Bush.

So, who still stands to profit by exploiting the misery of Vietnam in the end?

the Gaming industry

DeLappe himself

and Second Life

the media is the message
(not the content)
which is why the gaming industry wins, Dulappe wins, and SL wins

yes, you do not want to promote SL
of course, that is not your intention!
but, by going to SL,
by taking us there
you do promote it
vigorously

Confused X

Sorry I changed my text from name-calling you guys traitors (which actually was a joke) to speaking my mind.

I can't take another sick joke about Vietnam,
but I see now Dulappe's protest was in 2004 so I must apologize in part for my resistance.

I was teaching in Thailand 4 years during the Vietnam war, so I am sensitive. And, it did end like 35 years ago.

Maybe Dulappe did do a good thing, then again maybe he is just an insensitive glorified snert. Keep me posted. Until then, my question about who profits still goes.

Please excuse

argg LOL , Colin , if you reedit your post , its not easy to follow ..
BTw we are a few reading here , so , not a prob ..

But here is the topic about SL
( yes , I am not knowned to clean LouiZE , it is often "chaos" here , as said Hermi lol )

but I mean that Delappe used SL only for the Salt March .

If we could speak of his art work , may be better to open a new thread
( well ..who cares ? LOL )

I mean that he made most of his art out of SL .

The piece I wrote about above , was that one , ideed :

In the Fall of 2004, I endeavored to reenact each of the three Presidential Debates
in various online computer game environments.
"The Great Debates" 1, 2 and 3 were performed online in
"Battlefield Vietnam", "Starwards Jedi Knight Outcast" and "The Sims Online".

so , you see , he was entering popular online games .

http://www.unr.edu/art/delappe/Gaming/Great%20Debate/Great%20Debates%20MAIN.html

who wins ? Nobody ! It is a way to use online games as painters used canvas !

But here the canvas is not white , it is full with the popular memory , mass media culture .

It is a bit strange that you dont "follow" that , because , ideed , you explained well how you work with that
"collective memory " , by your self , X-Files , etc etc .

Many contemporary artits paint not the landscape they watch , but the landsape whitch had been watched on TV or web .."

Delappe enters in that stuff ..

But scuse , may be I have lost the SL promotion question ..

Well , I have not to promote it btw , sharks are better than me to do that Smile

and re ps : of course Delappe is not insensitive about Vietanm , Irak , colonialism ( in India ) ,
he works about ..

You say DeLappe is an artist? If you want to be religious about Art (which we are), I suppose you can say God is an artist, everything is art, and all humanity is an artist.

But, as instructeurs of art, we define the specific.

I can see flooding online games with boring texts as being artistic, mais pas beaucoup.

Certainly his choice of texts are calculated to arouse our sympathy, but that could be his trick (to manipulate our sympathy).

Sure, I used X-Files to attract interest back in the day. But I did not congratulate myself on YouTube or at Second Life for doing so.

So far, I just see just another glorified snert, perhaps even an obsessive compulsive one. Most 5 year olds today can do what he did here. Hell, most 5 year olds today can do what WE do.

Art? perhaps-- good art? Pffft!

It deserves to stay in Second Life with all the rest of the shit. Laughing

PostSubject: Re: Second Life   Second Life - Page 4 EmptyMon 10 Nov - 4:07

Fix me, Jesus!

ha ha -- walking 240 miles on a cardio represented by a 3D Ghandi avatar
as conceptual art ha ha -- a cute idea (mignon?)

mais qui etait la premiere chose,
la poulet ou l'ouef?

the Ghandi protest march? -- nah!
or the virtual cardio machine -- yes!

As an artist, I know and admit that most of my art happens by accident. Either that. or it is borrowed in part from somewhere else.

And we say in Canada (probably everywhere), you can not BS a BSer.

So, I do not think the Ghandi movement inspired DeLappe to invent a virtual cardio for a 'protest march'.

The medical technology for the virtual cardio walk probably became accessible first, and then DeLappe looked for a way to exploit that.

Next, he recalled Ghandi's famous treks.

In summary, he chose to exploit Ghandi (more safe than Jesus) in yet another crass and ridiculously repetative manic compulsive stunt.

But, DeLappe of course is not Ghandi -- is he Napoleon? Idea

DeLappe made that choice not out of sympathy for Ghandi's cause, but just for a stunt to make him, himself, DeLappe, famous.

That is an sick act that compares to all the evangelist-entertainers who exploited miracles and humanitarian sacrifices for their own benefit.

As I have suggested, it also compares to probably the 3rd most popular celebrity impersonation after Jesus and Napoleon in some hospital rooms, a most common sub-conscious self-serving manifestation. Smile But, I doubt that.

Besides, all artists are nuts, so that's okay. Some artists are nuts in the extreme, and that is even better.

Like I said, walking 240 miles virtually dressed as Ghandi, as conceptual art, is a cute idea (possiblement per un roman de science fiction), but executing it in real life (or in 2nd life) is just another stupid Internet stunt to get famous fast.

But, is it extreme art? Is it genius? nah!

You French are all nuts, too--- everything is art to you lol!

Peut etre DeLappe has to continue hoping new nutty disciples and stuff will just continue coming for him to seem to be a 'real humanitarian'. What a joke!

Your pursuit of this new trivial Internet contrivance is so argh!, I have to stop thinking about it! I am commencing to have deja vu!!!

Oh now I investigated more

at his

Salt Satyagraha Online page (above)

I see he simply attached his mouse (souris?) to a cardio machine
to simulate his exercise walking in the 3D world

I suppose walking like that is okay for exploring a 3D world
but actually everyone just wants to sit.

Donc, he probably discovered his idea was not marketable, and
invented this Ghandi idea to pay for his giant screen.

I think he is a handsome 45-50ish looking guy (at least he is not a kid).

The wooden statue of Ghandi (did he make it?) is just okay.

I still do not see any body of work that represents any creative life as a skilled artist. I suspect it exists, but do not see it...

HA HA HA

Okay okay I agree the guy is for real and
he is making a real and entertaining contribution to the world of art

he makes a big sacrifice of time and effort to reproduce a giant 3D-VR avatar of Ghandi in cardboard -- a comical evolution in reverse

so he deserves credit

I suppose 2nd Life has evolved also, and now contains so many ideas and creativity by artists like Delappe, it also deserves attention from the aficionadoes of the old blaxxun community.

Peter tells me 'No problem losing people to 2nd Life--- we just have to work harder' -- lol!

His words sound good to me, because we are not building a communitty per sae and we love working on X-Robotica / X-3DME, no-matter-what (neomoins?)

Donc, je suis heureuse avec le situation en general. Merci! et bon chance avec le projet de MiXed!
