You say DeLappe is an artist? If you want to be religious about Art (which we are), I suppose you can say God is an artist, everything is art, and all humanity is an artist.
But, as instructeurs of art, we define the specific.
I can see flooding online games with boring texts as being artistic, mais pas beaucoup.
Certainly his choice of texts are calculated to arouse our sympathy, but that could be his trick (to manipulate our sympathy).
Sure, I used X-Files to attract interest back in the day. But I did not congratulate myself on YouTube or at Second Life for doing so.
So far, I just see just another glorified snert, perhaps even an obsessive compulsive one. Most 5 year olds today can do what he did here. Hell, most 5 year olds today can do what WE do.
Art? perhaps-- good art? Pffft!
It deserves to stay in Second Life with all the rest of the shit.

Fix me, Jesus! ha ha -- walking 240 miles on a cardio represented by a 3D Ghandi avatar as conceptual art ha ha -- a cute idea (mignon?) mais qui etait la premiere chose, la poulet ou l'ouef? the Ghandi protest march? -- nah! or the virtual cardio machine -- yes! As an artist, I know and admit that most of my art happens by accident. Either that. or it is borrowed in part from somewhere else. And we say in Canada (probably everywhere), you can not BS a BSer. So, I do not think the Ghandi movement inspired DeLappe to invent a virtual cardio for a 'protest march'. The medical technology for the virtual cardio walk probably became accessible first, and then DeLappe looked for a way to exploit that. Next, he recalled Ghandi's famous treks. In summary, he chose to exploit Ghandi (more safe than Jesus) in yet another crass and ridiculously repetative manic compulsive stunt. But, DeLappe of course is not Ghandi -- is he Napoleon? DeLappe made that choice not out of sympathy for Ghandi's cause, but just for a stunt to make him, himself, DeLappe, famous. That is an sick act that compares to all the evangelist-entertainers who exploited miracles and humanitarian sacrifices for their own benefit. As I have suggested, it also compares to probably the 3rd most popular celebrity impersonation after Jesus and Napoleon in some hospital rooms, a most common sub-conscious self-serving manifestation. But, I doubt that. Besides, all artists are nuts, so that's okay. Some artists are nuts in the extreme, and that is even better. Like I said, walking 240 miles virtually dressed as Ghandi, as conceptual art, is a cute idea (possiblement per un roman de science fiction), but executing it in real life (or in 2nd life) is just another stupid Internet stunt to get famous fast. But, is it extreme art? Is it genius? nah! You French are all nuts, too--- everything is art to you lol! Peut etre DeLappe has to continue hoping new nutty disciples and stuff will just continue coming for him to seem to be a 'real humanitarian'. What a joke! Your pursuit of this new trivial Internet contrivance is so argh!, I have to stop thinking about it! I am commencing to have deja vu!!! X

Oh now I investigated more at his Salt Satyagraha Online page (above) I see he simply attached his mouse (souris?) to a cardio machine to simulate his exercise walking in the 3D world I suppose walking like that is okay for exploring a 3D world but actually everyone just wants to sit. Donc, he probably discovered his idea was not marketable, and invented this Ghandi idea to pay for his giant screen. I think he is a handsome 45-50ish looking guy (at least he is not a kid). The wooden statue of Ghandi (did he make it?) is just okay. I still do not see any body of work that represents any creative life as a skilled artist. I suspect it exists, but do not see it... X

HA HA HA Okay okay I agree the guy is for real and he is making a real and entertaining contribution to the world of art he makes a big sacrifice of time and effort to reproduce a giant 3D-VR avatar of Ghandi in cardboard -- a comical evolution in reverse so he deserves credit I suppose 2nd Life has evolved also, and now contains so many ideas and creativity by artists like Delappe, it also deserves attention from the aficionadoes of the old blaxxun community. Peter tells me 'No problem losing people to 2nd Life--- we just have to work harder' -- lol! His words sound good to me, because we are not building a communitty per sae and we love working on X-Robotica / X-3DME, no-matter-what (neomoins?) Donc, je suis heureuse avec le situation en general. Merci! et bon chance avec le projet de MiXed! X

| Tonight , I awaked at 2 am to piss , scuse to say, LOL. I opened the puter to answer a pupil of mines ,on Facebook. I only do that when they are sleeping ,to avoid them jumping on me. But Thyme jumped on me , LOL . It was nice to have some news from him , long time not seen. He shown me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlIn35BuNfU , a vid about SL supporting Meshes. I was on the way to re go bed , but I was curious to check that stuff. After googleing ,I installed http://download.cloud.secondlife.com/project-viewers/mesh/Second_Life_2-2-1-211639_ProjectViewer-Mesh_Setup.exe It took me a time to find "My inventory",in that new version of SL, and to find a place to test , but Google found me a "Mesh sandbox" in SL. All is free , you just could see the objects you import , during only 24 hours... So , I saw that I could "import" "objects" from "My inventory" ... They must be in *.DAE. I tested with two 3ds max files I have , (imported from VRML). I had , then , to export them in FBX, then to convert the FBX to DAE with "Autodesk FBX Converter 2012", witch is free. The first test made a crappy "MixED".... The second test made nothing from a "Zoe" I got years ago from seamless3d. I guess we must define the "values" ...??...dont know.... It was 5 am , I went to bed ps , on the other hand , I have no idea if a DAE could be animated .... ( "my" Zoe in 3dsmax was just a mesh ) _________________ http://mixed3d.net/

Congrats on being the first to import a mesh from seamless into SL Alain After seeing this youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnOk_xtVrJQ It would seem you can even import skinned meshes for animation so finally it looks like it’s possible to import an animated Lucy into SL ! My guess is the colours for Zoe/Lucy will need to be converted to textures but seamless has a feature for doing this

The link for the viewer you have here is already out of date Alain. To get the latest you should download from: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers#Mesh_Import I have not got the viewer to work yet. First time I try it says update your drivers for your video card. After doing that it says I must update my second life viewer lol I decide to this time let it do an automatic update but it failed after the download was complete ! So I am now downloading the installer for the mesh viewer for a 3rd time, hope it works. At least this trouble makes me feel good about how seamless must be one of the easiest 3d chat program to use
