Thanks Isa I have tried vdownloader as a result of Alain telling me about it I see that vdownloader also uses ffmpeg to convert files. An interesting program and it makes it easy to convert any file you download however I would prefer not to convert by using this setting:
ORIGINAL FILE (No conversion)
Because each time you convert a file to another format the quality degrades unless the format is a lossless type format.
I am very pleased that I recently got microsoft windows media player to play flv files using FFDShow
The home site for FFDShow is: http://www.ffdshow.info/
but I downloaded from here because this was where I first found it:
nFLVPlayer uses flash to play videos and so it always plays flash videos correctly I think MPlayer and SUPER(C) uses the same code to play flv files because both play some of my flv videos with annoying green vertical lines in the picture. FFDShow does not use flash to play movies but it does not have the same problems MPlayer and SUPER(C) so it must be using different code again.
I don't know if you can mess up other settings in windows media player so please be warned about the unknown but so far I have not had any problems since I installed. What is good about being able to play flv files from windows media player is you can make a play list of videos
