PostSubject: Re: BS Collaborate   Sat 10 Mar - 19:17

Thank you vcard (Vitor)

I liked the idea, too, therefore I have spent "some" weekends since April 2008 (when I started with some "Rollercoaster" project and Octaga Player).

Unfortunately, it would take some additional one or two staff years, before it can be a "really useful" game. This is too much for me alone.

Maybe, some developers will read this forum and join the project at http://simulrr.sourceforge.net .

And the biggest Thanks to Alain, who makes all this possible.

Sorry for spamming here, and enjoy the little functionality, which is already available Smile

Have fun

PostSubject: Re: BS Collaborate   Sat 10 Mar - 19:24

Hi all

regarding pre - test with Alain and another friend:

Chat worked well, Theo had to try to login several times, before it was possible to see his avatar.

Some annoying network delays (takes several seconds, when you click the door, before it opens).

Creation of trains is very instable (dissatisfying).

Reason: we used the old version of the software, which was more or less unchanged since 2010/03.
Advantage: trains available
Disadvantage: bad software quality

Recommend:
use old version of software for session on 31st March, but reset the used server just before doing the session.
This could alleviate some problems with trains.

Have fun

PostSubject: SRR Trains now supporting Web Spaces   Mon 31 Dec - 2:31

Hi

The SRR Framework supports web spaces since Oct/2012 (see e.g. Radus link above).

Now the SRR Tools (the Visual Basic GUI) support web spaces, too.

It is now possible to combine elements (modules, models, avatars) very easily by the SRR Tools (given somebody has created those elements Crying or Very sad ) to build a more complex world.

Then this world can be published to a web space (semi-automatically, you will still need e.g. an FTP client like FileZilla).

Bad news: this new version doesn't yet support rail vehicles, only tracks and turnouts are supported.

PRE-ALPHA!!!!!

PDF Description at http://simulrr.wordpress.com/2012/12/30/srrtrains-new-version-of-the-srr-tools/

Happy new year 2013

Yes, I support this statement.

You might know, I work as a software developer/tester for a vendor of GSM equipment (for railroad operators).

I did my best to convince our leaders to integrate 3D collaboration servers with telecom equipment (wouldn't it be nice to rent a 3D chat room on a collaboration server for let's say 5 to 10 people in a multiuser scene for let's say 15 EUR / month ? Providing your own game/scene for a small group of users?)

However, according to our leaders it's at least 5 to 10 years, before "Virtual Worlds" will be an interesting topic for us. Some Internet companies should do this earlier Crying or Very sad .

And not to forget: there exist a lot of multiuser servers already, all having their specific advantages and disadvantages.

Here we are talking explicitely about BS Collaborate

Btw.: I think Santa Clause hides at the Northpole today, because of all this noise with the fireworks Very Happy

yes yes but i like to play and test for my own,
and as I spent time around your nice stuff,
I feel bad to not be able to run BS collabarate on my Linux server.
( and as I pay for it , it could be used , LOL )
I wonder why BS didnt make it ...( for Linux)

I do not know.

My project is still in pre-alpha status, therefore I use the test version of BS Collaborate.

When (if) my project proceeds to alpha status, I guess then I will contact them and ask, if they have a version restricted to let's say 5 to 10 users for substantially less than 20.000 EUR. I just did not ask yet, but maybe they have a solution for the problem.

Best would be, if there were somebody who bought a full version of BS Collaborate and rented a part of the server (a "chat room" for 5 to 10 users) to me on a monthly rate basis. Maybe somebody like this already exist, I just did not search yet.

Hi all

SrrTrains News: I added FAQ pages to SrrTrains's Blog and SMUOS Blog

http://simulrr.wordpress.com/faq

http://smuos.wordpress.com/faq

Additionally, I'd like to report some progress with "MoosCreator" object and "SrrReplicator" object. Those are pre-conditions to have rail vehicles by end of 2014 (hopefully).

All the best

Hi, just a few words about SrrTrains.

In summer 2014 I deleted the blogs simulrr.wordpress.com and smuos.wordpress.com.

Now the project is what I call "hibernating".

I updated the web presence.

Now the official "Hibernating Page" is at http://letztersein.wordpress.com/srrtrains-v0-01/.

If the project will pass the "hibernation phase" (which is not consolidated yet), then the official "Home of SrrTrains" will take over in some future at: http://members.chello.at/christoph.valentin.

Have all a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Yours Christoph
