Its NOT, there is a new site called NewLively, which has nothing to do with the original in anyway. Its just an attempt to cash in on the name. The good part is the new comer used vrml, instead of some odd format.

| As Fabricator stated, this is NOT Lively. I didn't intend to mis-lead anyone and should have changed the title. If you read further you will see that they want it to look and feel like Lively. More power to them, I was not a fan of Lively for a number of reasons, so I really don't care except for the fact that it is apparently VRML-based to some degree. Google is apparently not totally out of the Virtual picture, BTW.
This from the Lively group on AVW.
"This 3D IM experiment was goofy and cartoon-like on purpose. GOOG didn't want to attract a huge number of users, so they purposefully made the UI too silly to attract huge, active membership.
While the LIVELY that people know is finished forever, its re-incarnation at a *higher level of being* than the old cartoonish UI is rolling as we speak. It'll require a bit more serious hardware and it'll differentiate between under- and over-18's. Thematically, GOOG's making "no comment" about the thing ~ or more like *what thing??* as GOOG might put it lol.
Keep your senses open to receive the Mothership's First Encounter With Humans .. public beta ETA July 2009.
Closed beta started in 2006. You already have seen the first or basic result (Lively). GOOG needed to test muchos and their tests taught them what they needed to know. In most cases LIVELY confirmed what GOOG had guessed.
When they go public with this upgraded 3D IM service, the intro will surprise lotsa folks lol. They're talking about releasing it at a very special venue.
Further clues are available on Bethesda's Fallout 3 (*Big Town* quest) and Valve's Left 4 Dead (playing in *Versus* mode only ~ eye out for news in 3rd chapter of L4D while boarding the jet and helicopter taking you back to civilisation).
PS Another of our members has announced that a newly resurrected LIVELY has just been announced. True. However, it has nothing at all to do with the company, Google Inc, nor are they involved in that project. It's a mod which an outside team used to keep the old LIVELY alive. Why they'd go to the effort is beyond me lol. But there you have it."
