| I got that from rogue and worldbuilders guilds - Quote :
Hi all, We have a new look for our website. Because our server is changing to a Linux server, our old site written in ASP would not work anymore We took this oppertunity to also change the name of the site to one that fits the content. VRML.TK says it all. This site has been designed to work in several browsers. We have tested it on Internet Explorer 6.02, Opera 8.51, Avant Browser 10.1, Crazy Browser 2.01, Netscape 8.04, Firefox 1.5 with Mozilla 5.0 and Gecko 2005 and 2006. Blaxxun multichat software only works with IE, CB and Avant. The rest of them support VRML but gets wrapped in the browser simulator. New is our RSS feed. Here we announce our events, tech/vrml/x3d related news and community events. http://vrml.alleyweb.co.uk/rss/rss.xml You need a RSS reader or a browser that has one built in, We recommend Avant Browser. A Stable browser that also works with multi-chat. We have an instant Avatar website builder. Because our main goal is still to be an index of Avatar sites. But often the skill of the Avatar builder ends at Avatar Studio. To make it simple, they only have to fill out the url and image url and click generate. Voila their Avatar site is ready to be uploaded. http://vrml.alleyweb.co.uk/build.htm We started a Cafepress page, like in CT in the hope to receive some income. To celebrate the store, we set up a contest in which we give away a USB memorystick. http://vrml.alleyweb.co.uk/store.htm The rest is the same as before. Lots of Avatars and Tools. We hope you like it! Bookmark us on http://vrml.alleyweb.co.uk so you do not get the forced advertising of the free short url http://vrml.tk Respectfully, Jeroen van Oostrom (ziekerdanziek)

Ziek, first of all, get off your high horse for a moment and take note.
I am not out to be "Mr Popular", and I don't really care what you, or anyone else thinks of me.
I agree that your site is VRML related (yes, I did look), but to post the same message on here, and other message boards, or whatever, using 22 lines of text, where 5 would have been ample, is not the way to get people to go to your site. Quite frankly, when I was half way through reading it I almost fell asleep <<insert hysterical laughter here if you want>>.
I was making a point that your message was classed as SPAM, and I give you a scenario below, but first of all, lets define SPAM, if you don't already know.
Definition of SPAM: Sending multiple unwelcome messages to a newsgroup or mailing list to promote a commercial product or Web site.
Notice that it says Web site? Anyway, on to the the scenario.
Scenario: Say Person #1 belongs to 10 forums/message boards etc., of the same or similar interest. Lets just call them 3D Places for arguments sake for now.
Person #1 now posts the same message in all 10 of those 3D places.
In each of those 3D places we have, lets say 2 other people, who also belong to the same 3D places as Person #1 does. Now, if they are all subscribed to the mailing list(which most do), those 2 people will receive that very same message 10 times.
See what I mean? this is what makes it SPAM in more than one way!!
If you want to take this further, then please do so via email. I will be more than willing to help.
Just a quick note about your site. I noticed there were about 230 HTML warnings on the home page that you might want to look at. It is also not valid HTML and it is also an accessibility nightmare. Just use a "Web Standards" browser(and I don't mean Internet Explorer) and turn off images and reload the home page, you will see what I mean.
Don't get me wrong here, I am just pointing out these things for you in case you don't know about them and because UK domains have to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act, which is law now. Again, if you need some help with this, let me know via email.
Happy Building!<P>

.................................................... [quote"ZIEKERDANZIEK."]...................... You are threatning me with the Disability Discrimination Act? Man you are such a waste of your own space. You are not the moderator of this group. You are the only one having this problem in this group, so how about you drop it? No I am not intrested in what you have to say Sole. Not here, not anywhere, not under any nickname you hide behind. To the moderator of this E-group I would like to point out that his is e-mail is contributing NOTHING to the topic of the group and like the last e-mail from sole, only out to intimidate and frustrate me, I strongly request that this kind of harrassment will not be tolerated in this e-group. I have good faith to believe Sole is breaking the guidelines for this group.[/quote] | |
