and if you are tired of my tutos ,
go to the beach !
a funny trick is to build in seamless to have the right image in PovRay . For instance , in the last image above , I scaled the second person to .3 .3 .3 , to have her " far away " ....

Great work alain I am currently playing with povray too and fixing a few things

how do you get the same result as

does ??

textureTransform TextureTransform {scale 2 2 2
You can use a PlaceTexture node to transform a Part's texture map alain. You plug the PlaceTexture node into the Seamless node and plug the Part reference into the PlaceTexture node. The PlaceTexture has fields much the same as a VRML TextureTransform. However you may not be wanting a PlaceTexture here. The TextureMapper can do most things you need in a more direct way. I want to get the TextureMapper to be able to map an imported mesh more easily Alain but I will need to play with this more before I can explain this well.
I have been busy most of the day trying to figure out how to convert vrml/seamless viewpoints to povray (when perspective is ticked is same as vrml) I am hoping late in the day I had a breakthrough, fingers crossed for tomorrow I will find a solution

Nice moves Alain the movement looks very interesting
I notice too you have played with a povray camera that has perspective.
Some days ago I got perspective to export from seamless to povray exactly what you see in seamless but only when the window is exactly square When the window is rectangular it stretches the image so am still left feeling rather frustrated but I must be close to my goal now I am currently getting techuelife island to export to povray, I should soon be able to upload an animated hoppy with shadows to youtube

Thanks for showing more nice images of your lighting and shadow experiments Alain, I much enjoy seeing all of them even if I do not reply as much as I wished Please do not stop playing with Lucy & Zoe on my account Alain, I made Lucy & Zoe open source to encourage others to play and learn seamless, it's that simple

Augmented reality (AR) is a field of computer research which deals with the combination of real-world and computer-generated data (virtual reality), where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time.
I am sure this field will improve and it has its place but I often feel a lot of good 3d animated work is spoiled by superimposing the computer generated characters on top of a real movie. Mixing the lighting for the computer generated model with real light is hard to get right and if not done well it feels too much like an animated cartoon character stuck on top of a movie, 2 mediums that do not mix. Personally I would much rather put my energy into creating the plants and animals, this is after all where all the fun is and let the ray-tracer take care of calculating the beautiful complexities of the light interaction.

Here is an example of real plants mixed with computer generated dinosaurs, the plants look real which makes the dinosaurs look less convincing I feel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXwiI9qaccc&feature=related (There are also close ups that use animatronics but they don't look any better lol)
Compare this to the plants in Shrek where everything looks like it is in its right place, it may not look photo realistic but looks way more artistic. Sorry searched for some time on youtube but I cant seem to find a good example of the forest or the sun flowers in Shrek right now lol I must go back to sleep so I leave you in peace Alain

Thanks for the dinosaur movie Alain I must say this is done much better than walking with dinosaurs. King Kong, T-Rex and the scenery all blend together very nicely. Not sure from the quality of this youtube if the background scenery is for real but if it is, the photo looks like a beautiful painting. (some photos have this quality) This is one of the things that makes it gel together I think. Also it is interesting that the beautiful British/Australian actress Naomi Watts looks real (in comparison to the monsters) but look at the scene she is walking on, her feet look like they are really waking on this ground (I assume the ground is real) but the scene she walks on sort of looks unreal (Hollywood like) but this I think helps convince us its all tied together (nothing looks obviously superimposed). Also of course King Kong and T-Rex feel very real in how dynamically their animations look but if you compare them to Naomi she certainly looks more real but this does not seem to matter
Afraid I never went to sleep ! mostly because I got carried away taking this photo of a hoppy alive inside seamless hopping over NURBS generated hills. photo with info: http://tinyurl.com/lcny3a First time I done this BTW I had to get a better angle too many times (the burden of being too much of a perfectionist), and then I had to tweet it lol. Ok I will have my breakfast and then I will sleep
