Thank you for the news, Vcard.
That's probably the most promising project regarding web3d since ... probably 1995
It has been a long list of success stories signed by the Fraunhofer guys till now ... ... so I hope this one becomes a real standard, on all browsers.
P.S.: since Fraunhofer Institut is not a "comitee" (nor a consortium), they shall be successfull :
A camel is a horse designed by a comitee.

IMHO this X3Dom is one more example of "Those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it" It will be another round of 1997 broken functionality all over again, along with X HTML5 browser can do this, but Y can't. and the twain won't meet except in the simple worlds, because HTML5 X browser decides "we can do it another and better way so we will go off spec" What makes this X3Dom worse is not only the broken functionality, but that it is put into the hands and wholly dependent on HTML5 browser vendors who really don't have a vested whole-hearted interest in 3D -it's more like "Oh yeah we can do 3D too, while our primary use is standard 2D". That is just asking to be put on the back burner as far as X3Dom users are concerned. This rant isn't about the technology per se, but about the behaviour of web vendors that should have been learned over 14 years ago. X3Dom is just one more Quxotic attempt at a unified 3D web (yawn) and the lemmings will follow to another decade of disappointment.

Well , I guess you are right , Russ. But web3D ( and web ! ) is always under money conceptions , am I false ?
I mean that Blaxxun had been bankrupt because of that , BS has his stupid logo ,etc etc.
And I guess that Peter is true too , to tell ( above ) that "a camel is a horse
designed by a comitee" .
Anyways I (re)try X3dom just because I like to try new things and to see if I am
able to do something with .
To make a x3d from my old vrmls is not too much complicated when they are simple
. So I try to make some tests in xhtml . But it is not so easy , and I don't like how we move in .
An other point is that when I want to show some 3d to some friends ( who have no plugins , or have a Mac ,or Linux etc ) it is always deceptiv , or often .
I wonder if I will have still to explain : Use Firefox and type about:config and check

BTW: if you come across the same problem, simply do this: Enter about:config in the Firefox adress bar, and set the setting security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy to false. Your WebGL stuff then will start working again, also locally.

I know how to convert from vrml to x3d ( I use Flux and repare the errors with vrmlpad)
I edit the x3d with notepad to get the xhtml
but it is hard for me to understand how to get no errors with javascipt scipts.
I googled about , but get still errors.
It is sad because I have some friends or pupils who can see my files without installing BS or blaxx , using xhtml , but I do want that they get ALSO the result of my codes !!
( even when they are not MY codes , LOL , I spent 10 years to be unable to write only one , LOOOL )
exemple :
that one has a script to change the viewpoint after a short moment :
http://mixed3d.free.fr/x3d/beton.wrl
sorry the texture is 1MO and there is a sound too , LOL
when I convert to xhtml I had errors so I deleted the script here , that is sad LOL
http://mixed3d.free.fr/x3d/beton.xhtml
I must say too that the lights are not working in similar way than in vrml , but it is less important.
Well.... anyways , I will bore with my questions , vcard and his friends on Babel site
ps : I wonder is there is a more simple way to edit all that , than to do all by hand !
ps : I see also in Chrome that the sound is lost

Kids!
Here's the (still alive)
Go visit this link using your tablet or smartphone (preferrably an i-WhatSoEver): https://vrmath2.net/vrbox/
I was pretty surprised to find out that my snertphone (i-something) was able to display x3dom content out of the box.
Since Alain's forrum does not show the year when a post was posted, I will write it here: today is 2016, April 8th
In case you read this in the year 2024, your smartphone is an implant in your left nipple, it is a nerd and you hate it, but you must have it by law: virtual reality still comes in bottles for $6.55?
Bissous to all of you!
