Official home page for my 3d chat software, now called VP3Dchat. V for vrml, P for perl (and when I get to that).

Only two things on the page so far, a minimal userguide, and an automatically updated list of worlds using the chat. Pretty pictures and more detailed information to come later.

Just added one extra world to the list Fireworks.

Also the much more usefull developers guide, just follow the instructions, add the lights if you need them, and upload to your website. The chat will automatically add it to the world listing when its first visited.

Ah right, you don't need to alter the avatar at all. You simply save the code fragment as a file namely C:\vrml\_cgi_chat.ini

There is a download of the file on the page, or you can make it yourself by creating a new text file and renaming it.

The code is also shown on the page simply as an example.

Ah don't worry Alain, others will see you avatar fine. I see herm's avatar ok, but I can't see my own.

As I am supporting both Contact and Cortona I have to create my own view avatar code.

edit: The chatters list is fixed now, no more ghosts of the last person in the chat.

edit2: Oh Alain I did see you in chat for about 5 seconds. you left before I could reply, but I did see you gold avatar fine.

Ok thanks to Peter I found a bug in the keyboard code for Cortona, a simple typo meant the shift key got stuck on. Its fixed now.

I also have the deal with the issue of viewpoints, the different fieldOfView messes up the hud. Its a documentation issue.

fieldOfView is a vrml viewpoint term, a better description would be camera lens.

I better go check I still have some bandwidth allocation left its a joke btw the chat could use 10 times its current bandwidth and I wouldn't care.

I just found if you type the words vrml and chat into google this thread appears on page 3 of the results. No google results yet for the home page itself yet.

Found and hopefully nailed the "super lag" bug and the dropped chat text bug. It looks like a file locking problem in the server scripting.

Still something odd happening in the chatters list, could be related so I'll look at that first. Annoyingly I had to re-write the entire code block for that section earlier.

You really need ot learn programing FOX !!! Is book for it !!!

I fixed 4 seperate bugs while trying to fix only one. Seems they 3 had the same cause.

Worlds with spaces in the worldName field now display correctly in the list.

The recently re-appeared ghost of previous chatter is fixed, as is the error on entering, the missing chat history on entering, and the place not appearing in list bug. All of these bugs had the same cause, the encoding for world and avatar urls got broken somehow. I have no idea what caused it, probably changes made to the server by the website hosting company.

Le pays du vent de korben is one of the worlds which didn't appear on the list. It should work now, but untill someone visits the url it won't appear on the list. Anyone know the url for this world ?
