Il était loin (4-5 années), un peu par désillusion avec le "mouvement politique" des compagnies du VRML (Blaxx, Cybertown, etc.) et la manque d'avances qui on (presque) toué l'intérêt pour la technologie.

Maintenant il apprécie bscontact et, m'a dit, est très enthousiasmé avec le développement d'Abnet2 (nouvelles fonctions, commandes multiutilisateur, rapidité et stabilité) et la fin des plantes! Smile

with a new World: V & R Construction Theme by Lazz (Steve Boyce)

Back then (1997-2000) we used the term moving worlds because vrml 2 was built for movement, dynamics and interaction. Unfortunately movement and interaction are somehow forgotten in many 3D worlds but that is surely not the case of V & R Construction Theme now opened for us to enjoy Smile


Main house and garage

The main wrl is constructed of nothing but protos (42 in total) and scripts. It contains no native mesh and several shared events.
Among the activities we can climb the mighty Tower and enjoy a general view of the complex.


The mighty Tower

The job trailer contains many interesting features, original and innovative interactions. At the table where the workmen eat their lunch is a lunchbox that has a gravity effect in it. all the chairs are moveable. just to the side of the door when you come in there is a blueprint reader that comes down from the ceiling. It has three different planesensors that operate it.
The end result is a pretty convincing magnification effect as you are moving the magnifier around. (best viewed in first person as with most effects.) And there is also the safe with a few surprises in to catch and carry on, but you have to find the combination Wink.


The Safe, what secrets does it keep?

There are many other surprises in this world, too many to describe shortly, among them an enormous digger machine and a tree planter, and we have to visit this world (several times) to play with them all.

ABNet v3 is out with a Flash plugin !

Simplified access - since Flash is already installed in most PCs
Flash opens new multimedia exploration paths that will gradually enhance ABNet 3D multiuser experience.

For now still works under Internet Explorer but, since flash is a multi-browser/multi-system technology, eventually will run on other browsers and operating systems soon!

Hi Alain,

There is no apparent difference for experienced users. All works in a similar way. Except if they have old flash versions, the system will ask to upgrade the flash version.

That is one interesting feature of vrml/x3D chats (although a bit forgotten
sometimes) and very easy to implement with abnet worlds.

Among many others, here are, for reference, 3 excellent examples on how to do that with different approaches and design.

How to do it, in simple words? You can do it in many ways, of course. The easiest is using an HTML iframe tag.

Btw I will tell you my Mixed secret , the next expo is for Alana ,
meeting on Abnet , but we will announce soon .

I take the opportunity to re ask you what isa said about her FLY problem .

I tested that

ROUTE visibilitysensor.isActive TO NavigationInfo1.set_bind

and also with a Timesensor loop , etc ,

but it has always the same result , we stay in WALK mode on ABnet .

Have you a solution ?

( if not , she will add a transparent plane to stay on )

Congratulations à la merveilleuse équipe Mixed3D pour continuer le bon travail de promotion et divulgation du VRML/X3D cheers

A propos du monde de Isa: j'ai changé un peu le code d' ABNet pour bouger le moins possible avec les modes de navigation définis par le créateur. Le problème reporté est résolu.

PostSubject: Addressing IE9 issues on ABNet3 chat   Sat 11 Jun - 17:01

Salut mes amis!
Hi friends!

Activex blocking and compatibility view issues on IE9

IE9 has a new JavaScript engine and improved performance, beside other HTML5 features. That is really cool and VRML/X3D chat worlds appear to run faster than ever.

Yet Microsoft does not seem to like developers that much since introduces periodically new annoying standard constraints that the user must address manually otherwise will not see some of the site content. I am talking about the 2 infamous icons that (sometimes) appear in IE9 top bar as circled in the image below.

These issues are not minor and need attention:
1) If activex is blocked the user will only see a tiny icon on the 3D window and may think the Chat server is not working anymore (if not worse). This is probably not a big issue because most users have seen it already on many sites (Microsoft is driving users crazy and a bit disappointed with ie9 security. Firefox is surely earning on this deception)

2) the other problem is with 3D Chats embedded (windowed ) in content platforms like in Woop Woop's. 3D will not start if the user doesn't manually click the compatibility icon on the browser menu. This issue is a problem for windowed (iframe) 3D content.

How Activex blocking and compatibility view issues are addressed on ABNet interface.

The base idea was to alert the user when issues are happening and telling him what manual measures he needs to take before proceeding.
Go to the sites referenced by the figures and find out how we do it. To test just follow the alert advices and/or click on the icons referred on Fig.1. IE9 will reload the chat with the new settings.

Suggestions are welcome
