I installed Fraps .....
the frame rate is good BUT :

the avi we get has a codec ......ppl needs to install Fraps to read the avi !!

and when I tried to upload my test to youtube , it failed ! because of that codec ......

so , I wil thanx mutant ...for the idea ......but it seems not the right solution

Yes so many programs but so few offering a solution to what I would have imagined was not much of an ask.

Creating the still pictures (the frames) is not the challenge for me though because povray will do this task better than any real time video card.

Same as you Alain, having the wrong codecs has been one of the big problems I have faced when trying out various video programs.

I thought the only real challenge for me was joining the frames but now I realise I need this and I need to be able to add sound too to make a movie.

I think I have finally found a free video editor that lets me do just that
It is called Blink:

2.123 has 6 new nodes designed for the purpose of creating high quality sound tracks.

2.123 has had a number of bugs fixed and also a number of improvements have been made.
I have made it so seamless can output a POV-Ray movie for an Anim node by right clicking on the Anim node in the scene tree.
For well over a decade I have wanted to make a 3d animated move using povray and now with the popularity of 3d animated movies featuring in you tube I see a great opportunity.

2.123 completes my 4th priority for the year by adding a set of Bezier nodes to match the Elliptical set.
Months ago I would have expected the main focus for this version to be on these new Bezier nodes, however, although these new Bezier nodes make seamless easier than ever before to create smooth high quality avatars, there is doubt about the future of these nodes because of yet newer nodes being developed that may be even simpler to use.
Since 2.122 I have played about with Bezier Patches which seemed like a logical evolutionary step for Seamless and progressed onto Rational Bezier Patches and NURBS and then Polygon Subdivision.
I really wanted to write a demo this year to show how to make an avatar using seamless build nodes but I feel now more time is needed to test out the new methods.

The seamless synthesizer can be broken down to very simple components so if I ask a few questions I should be able to help.
My first question is do you hear any sound at all (in the output wav file) after adding a HarmonicPatch to an Oscillator?

I opened an old smls file , witch was animated ..
I got an avi file ! I was very happy !

except a name without any extension , around 150 ko .....and it was not an avi file ....
same with the animtete.smls I used before ..

I wondered if my animtete.avi was on olf files I had months ago , I can't remember

Hi Alain and Isa thanks for trying my new sound track nodes
I see you generated a wav file Alain and slid the pitch this is success!
But I must clear something up about the sound track nodes.
They are only designed for creating a wav file (for a sound track in a movie or just for an mp3 or possibly you can use the wav file after it is generated in a vrml file).
It is important to understand you can not output any of the new sound track nodes to anything other than a wav file.
Think of the Composition node as a node that replaces the Scene node for making sounds instead of making shapes.
Only use the Composition node's output button when making a sound track. It wont do any harm if you accidentally click the Scene node's output button but the wrl will be of no use to us so just delete it.
Blink is still needed to mix the wav file into the movie file.

I am Ok with that and I feel very great that you have a 3D modeller to play music ,

I first tought that it was able to have a shape morphed during the track is playing ,

Sorry I have not followed this political issue that is happening in France Alain but I sympathize with you about the importance of having a system that is designed for the people, rather than a system designed to milk the people.
Right now here in Australia we are only one week away from the federal election.
I will vote for the greens first and then give my next preferences to any other minor party that leans in this direction and then after them I will preference the main opposition party in front of the present right wing government.
We have had the right in power for over a decade now and it would be just unbearable if they got in for another term.
Australia is one of the most polluting nations on earth per capita and our prime minister remains a green house skeptic much the same as bush in USA.

Surprisingly I have forgotten how much work is involved in writing tutorials lol
I only now have to check over the spelling and add the links so I should have it uploaded tomorrow.
I found a minor bug in seamless that I hope did not cause you some frustration , I found you need to also check the outputToPovRay field in the scene node when outputting to a movie.
This will be explained in the tutorial but the next version of seamless wont need this to be done.

This step by step tutorial shows how anyone today can make high quality 3d animated movies using free software and be able to reach a very wide audience.

I have spent a lot of time over the last few days trying to keep this tutorial as simple and straight forward to follow as possible.
There is in fact very little text to read throughout it. The size of it is mostly due to being rich in screen shots so please don't let this put you off.

While writing and testing this tutorial 2 minor bugs were found and fixed for 2.124 so please update.

One thing I have recently noticed very late just after I have uploaded everything (which takes me hours) is my YouTube movie I show how to make stops playing before it has finished but I did not have this problem yesterday.
So all problems have not been ironed out yet sadly

I don't want to end on a sad note, I am still very excited about the idea of making YouTube movies. Over a decade ago before I had access to the Internet I wanted to make a movie using povray but wondered how would I get an audience. I belive YouTube should solve this problem.

This step by step tutorial shows how anyone today can make high quality 3d animated movies using free software and be able to reach a very wide audience.


This tutorial replaces my previous movie making tutorial and is much simpler than before now that we use ffmpeg instead of blink.
Part of this reason is because I have made Seamless3d create a batch file to control ffmpeg when the povray files are created.
Instead of having to do 3 separate operations: Join the frames, mix in the sound and then convert to an AVI file we now only have to double click on the bat file and ffmpeg will merge the audio and frames into a flv file we can upload to youtube.
We have more options available too because ffmpeg can do all sorts of other formats including mpg which opens fine in windows media player and mp4 which opens fine in quick time (does anyone know if windows media player can be made to play mp4 too ?) .
I experimented with uploading mpg and mp4 which were a little more compact than the flv generated by default but in the end it seemed to me the youtube movies were noticeably higher quality when I uploaded a flv .

a bug crept into 2.123 that prevented the BoxBuild node from being colored. Thanks to Lilly discovering this but it has been fixed for 2.125

Many Thanks Alain for helping me find FFmpeg (its a component of SUPER(C)) its better suited for what we want, simpler to use and its open source

As I said I have 4 classes of 25 pupils and only 15 puters .
So , half of the class had to work by sketches during they wait for a puter ...and then to realize at home ...
The question was :
