| Hi again : I did change the text input. Now it is a rather normal HTML Text Input, so more easy to use. Next step : the "lost text" bug... Here we go. | |

| Yes, Thank you Jicer, Alain, X and Omind for your patient support. I will provide link's to your forums, web-pages, worlds as soon as I can (and if you don't mind). For the moment, some news about bug-fixes : Viewpoint, NavigationInfo, Fog, Background and all other bindable nodes (if there are more) are now being correctly bound when you load your worlds into the chat system. No need for doing any modifications, if following applies : The wrl file is being scanned to a depth of 3 levels. Lower nisted nodes will not be bound. Textures for Background will not be shown if they don't provide an absolute URL. That means : "http://my_domain/my_folder/my_image.jpg" I will try to fix that further on. That has been a big step, anyhow. Thank's again to Fabricator, who gave me a few important hints for the bug-fix. Cheers 'n Huggs Peter And now I go see Pam. | |

| No prob, proffeseur : Shelenn has kindly provided a draft specification for further development, giving some hints on what features a 3d-chat server should provide. She seems to have a vaste experience in legal issues concerning server administration and a very good feeling for what other issues should be avoided or what features should be given. One of her proposals is about prohibiting private chat. It made me wonder, first, why this should be a part of the spec. The reasons, well documented and explained by Shelenn, can be splitted into two main areas : 1) children protection against abuses by insane people, which seems to be a very frequent problem in chat's allowing private chatting. She provides some statistics on that, and it seems to be a real problem. 2) there are laws, probably not worldwide, or somwhere not published yet, but on their way to be harmonized worldwide, which require chat administrators to keep log files of the chat activity, access logs and other data logging, and to store such data records for a certain period of time. In a beginning, this was supposed to be only needed for privat chat. Now it rather seems that we should provide such data-recording features also for the public/general chat. Beside other threads, the discussion was now turning a bit arround that idea of data-recording, how far it is necessary, how far it is legal to listen at people's conversation and recording their access data, how far is it unlegal not to do so ... I invite you to follow the thread from within Cyworx. Peter | |

| Well, the background issue in N3DME was not perfectly fixed till today : Texturized Backgrounds where not shown And I could not let it be that way, so much nice worlds being badly visualized inside my chat Well, I had some special worlds that I used for testing the script, and I did not stop untill all of them were shown in the way their builders had created them : Isa's noel.wrlJicer's parking.wrlChrysagon's arena.wrlNow they all show-off their beauty properly Another issue of the inlining script was, that, depending on dunno what, there were large parts of some worlds not being loaded. That did happen (among others) to : Colin's gigercoll2x.wrlHector's first world rerer.wrl (or so) All that seems to be fixed too. Thank's to all those builders for their active and passive collaboration. I'm happy again Peter | |
