No worries Alain, both are "robots" and both are "demos" for seamless so its easy to confuse the 2. You dont see the help robot, only what it does with the mouse and keyboard, and who knows, it might be a hoppy robot if only you could see it Smile

PostSubject: Re: Seamless   Seamless - Page 10 EmptyTue 19 Sep - 3:35

This is both good news Smile and bad news Sad
I doubt it is your computer at fault Alain, its probably because the seamless robot is not compatible with millennium. The reason why the robot demos are more troubled by different operating systems is because the robot is specifically using the system's input, the mouse and keyboard and apparently they are all a little different (win98, millennium and XP) in how they behave.
The robot only worked in XP properly until I fixed a few bugs for win98. I am afraid the real bad news is I don't have widows millennium to test out what is the problem. I could probably debug this with trial and error tests written for you to try out on your computer but this will take an unknown number of trial tests before I find the cause this way. If it is just the robot that is the problem and if you can borrow Asheanor's XP puter for the robot demos I hope it will not a real big problem but I am willing to write some tests if anyone much needs the robot to work on an older operating system besides win98.
Thanks for your feedback Alain, I now know something new I did not before.

Hi Isa Jacinto and Alain Smile
great news Alain Smile however I don't understand why it should be your fault the robot does not work on your computer. perhaps the keyboard is set up differently or something like that.

Please see my ideas for Bezier or Spline type curves being added to seamless for lathes, bends etc:

a 1000 thanks to you!!! Very Happy

I am currently very busy working on adding a Bezier lathe for seamless which I feel is going to be the next best thing since sliced bread Smile I will write more soon about it Smile

Yes they are for making curves Isa but you do not have to understand the mathematics for a Bezier curve to use one. The main reason I wanted to add a Bezier curve to Seamless is because they are very intuitive to use. You will be able to see what I mean by "very intuitive to use" for your self when I have the next version of seamless ready and an example of a Bezier lathe for it. All you have to do is drag the control points and the shape will change in such a way anyone will instantly know how to control the shape.
The interface for a Bezier lathe is so intuitive I even wonder if its easier for a beginner than creating a sphere, cylinder or cone Smile Bezier curves are very popular, not only for 3d programs but many popular paint programs use them too (often the word spline or curve is used instead of the specific Bezier spline/curve type)

in France we said this expression when we are afraid by a thing

"je prends mes jambes a mon cou "

"I take my legs amon neck and I leave Smile"

but the engineer Pierre Bézier was French so they can not be something to be afraid of Smile

As I said there will be no need to understand the mathematics to use a Bezier curve for seamless but even the concept for the mathematics is beautifully simple.

I am far from being a great mathematician but this animated image:

Seamless - Page 10 Bezier_quadratic_anim

makes it very easy for even me to be able to grasp the concept for the maths behind a Bezier curve, at least if I wrote my own formula from scratch using simple line mathematics. To understand the concept for this image, imagine 2 trains are running along the grey lines. One train is running from point 0 to point 1 and the other train is running from point 1 to point 2.
Imagine a green elastic string stretching between the 2 trains.
Imagine a man running along this elastic string holding down to the ground a red paint brush while he runs from one train to the other. The trail of paint he leaves on the ground will mark a Bezier curve.

There, not something to be afraid of and leave? Smile

kind wishes

i use a software of 3d,and i see though all is too square and what I missed in first the light! and curves!
i said alain help !!how i make light and curves my first question about 3d Smile

I cannot still make the curves on flow in this moment I learn and I discover!! share of the rounds has which one cuts into two...: (

Bézier yes I saw well that it was necessary to make trainer... practical... but the figures me one a little frightened:)

it is well to discover other software which bring us advisability to work. thank you Smile

Sorry Alain yes it's not the most artistic of lines. I will try to think of something more witty soon as I have had a chance to plant some early (or now mid) spring sweet corn and tomatoes and after I have filled in my tax forms Smile
Afraid these are the times we live in, where we let computers speak dry words for us for lack of time to write our own, and why? because the computers take all our time!!! lol sorry no I love computers and the internet Smile

Alain wrote earlier:

So far I have only used circular and elliptical curves for this, I will try out Bèzier curves for this soon Mr.Red

Interesting mathematical art Alain, however I have to say the mathematical formula went horribly wrong for these breasts:

Hi Alain, Isa and All Smile
the new version is finally ready:

http://www.seamless3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91

Hope this robot might work better on your computer Alain, however I have found when ram gets short this can upset it's timing but this should not prevent it from being useable. The robot can resume work from any operation.
Please Isa take a look at the demo robot, it shows how to make an av using Bezier lathes and should be as entertaining as it is informative Smile
I have been on the go all day working to get this version ready in time for the weekend and now its 3:50 AM, I hope progress will be smoother after this day but right now I just got to close my eyes and sleep!
