hi mcfly sorry, so far all of the tutorials I have written focus on technique and so I have always tried to keep them as simple as possible. The art work so far has been left to the user however I have thought though perhaps it would be good in the future to have more artistic looking examples to inspire others. As a child I use to much enjoy gluing plastic aeroplane models together and also balsa ones and I much enjoyed assembling Lego too. I see no reason why the same sort of thing cant be done for seamless too Bumpy would have used seamless build nodes including BranchJoin nodes to get this very smooth machine look.

| Some great animated CCLathe life-forms Alain are they plant or animal? lol I see you are using blaxxun's dynamic shadows too. I must add shadows like this for seamless in the future, I have seen examples of dynamic shadows in the direct X SDK since 1998! but have not had a chance to look at the code for how this is done for direct x or bxx. You will have to show me how you do it some day Alain because I know you have been doing this for years now The join close vertices tutorial should be really simple Alain. perhaps I have something silly that's misleading or a typo or something, so please let me know if it makes sense or not soon as you have a chance to look at it properly, it really should be dead simple to do. I have updated my gallery page some more. It shows jokar's jester av she designed: and her dog I made the next year: This dog was the first thing I made like this using a GUI to edit build nodes, before this time I edited build functions using text C++ files (jokars's jester av was created 100% using only C++ files). Things are now coming full circle where both build nodes and C++ instructions can be edited using seamless's GUI | |

| Hi Isa , Alain , and Jacinto Thanks for your comments Isa, they were a joy to read and Alain's too When I render models with Pov-Ray, it often seems to evoke feelings from my childhood and makes me think of toys I have had or haven't had Wallace and Gromet often does much the same for me, stirring simular childhood feelings, even though I never saw Wallace and Gromet as a child Glad you found the tutorial made sense in the end Alain, don't worry about misunderstanding it initially, I often get the wrong end of the stick when the simplest of things are explained to me it is not in French too so it's a little more complicated for you I understand, however I wonder if the words distract from the images to get the message across, even for people who speak English as their first language. Also it is important to note, thyme is always needed to digest new things, even when they are dead simple. Great news about Marlboro! I wonder if he has been receiving any of my seamless updates I post out. I hope I still have his current email address. | |

| I thought since ages that you have , Thyme , the original software to build your original shapes with your original ideas and mind ....
It is evident with that http://www.seamless3d.com/gallery/jane5w.png
as it is evident with all you do ,
scuse to say it and don't answer ..LOL
But it is great , and not many ppl have all that ( together ) ...
........ 2 - By mistake I ouputed one thing in *.pov ..... how do you make an image with that ??? witch soft need to be used ??
3 - I played again with the CCLathe http://dumenieu.free.fr/louiseforum/fleurserpentpieuvre.wrl
4.. ooopssss I forgot to tell , about the shadows , that I found a way from qbert , years ago , ( it was made with a draw group : http://dumenieu.free.fr/vrml/avatarspublic/zenorshadow2.wrl )
but , here ,with the flowers/snakes etc , it is just a stupid trick :
DEF shadow Transform { scale 1 .00001 1 children [ Shape { appearance Appearance { material Material { diffuseColor 0.2 0.2 0.1}} geometry IndexedFaceSet { coord USE c0141e2b0
etc etc with the same coordIndex ....... so it is "animated" as the referent is ....
4....yesss I am very happy if marboro has a bit time to come here ... I remember he was one of the guys who tried seamless

| Alain you can download povray from: http://www.povray.org and its free Seamless should prompt to open the pov file after you press output. You want to add a floor and play with the light position to get interesting effects. Also I made seamless so that the ColorEffect and/or TextureEffect nodes get output to make them easy to edit in povray. You can add Effect nodes to any part to change a different part's appearance, for example make the eyes more shiny. Its makes life easier to name the Effect nodes in seamless so that you can output the geometry files (.inc) with references to the same names in the pov file at a later stage. To prevent Seamless overwriting the pov file you are editing changing the pov file name. It will work like this fine if it references the inc files with the same names for the effect nodes. I hand Edit the pov file to change the camera and lighting and the effect. Gosh I need to write a tutorial for povray for seamless! Its one of the first 3d programs I ever played with and I still think its great! | |

| I forgot to mention you must click on the "run" button in povray. You should then see Pov-Ray ray trace the file. The resulting image will be by default a bmp file which will be located in the same folder as the povray file. The size of the image generated by povray can be changed from the drop down menu in povray to the far left. | |

| Great to see Alain I think you will continue to find this program something you will want to use again and again. Did you make this twirl? or is it a pov ray example? you can make twirls using a CCLathe and a CCBend but I have never written a tutorial yet showing how. | |

| Hi Alain I much like this blue moody world, looks much like a scene for some science fiction movie I am also delighted to find it was a CCBend node after all that you used to make the spiral type shapes We do not have to do anything to make shadows work for povray because shadows are created by povray automatically. However if there is no floor or any objects to cast a shadow onto, we wont see a shadow, same as in the real world. This is from my new tutorial for seamless I have just written: Taking a Pov-Ray Screen Shot I explain how you can add a floor directly to the pov file and other things related. Sorry to hear about you having to go back to school already, good things never seem to last but its Saturday here so this can only be for Friday your time then you are back into the weekend right? The same weekend we will be having the pirate party | |
