You can use many different SAPI5 voices with seamless chat Alain, the seamless chat tutorial explains how to get some free voices but there are many other voices you can pay money for (which I know will delight you )
I have heard voices for different languages/accents too including French voices, just Google for "SAPI5 French"

But beware of downloading anything from www_zero2000_com, my free McAffee site adviser warns it has a dangerous download !

For those who don't already know how to chat using seamless, just download the latest version of seamless3d (the modeller).

Click on the "open smls file from the web" button from the tool bar:



Add your nickname and click go.

That is all you have to do to log in and be able to chat.

There should be no need to disable your firewall because seamless does no peer to peer any more, it only acts as a client like your html browser.

If you want to wear something different to the default avatar you can use any avatar from my avatar smls format page.

Or better still you can make your own avatar but please test your avatar works in seamless chat before the party begins so that you don't crash everyone else

For how to change your avatar, use voices and more, see the seamless chat tuorial.

All of the avatars on my avatar page are free for all to modify but I must stress that some of the worlds and avatars at the party will not be free to save and so you must respect the same rules that apply to any content on the net by not saving a world (and any of the avatars in the world) unless you have permission from all the owners first.

Sorry to hear you still have not been able to log in.
Seems now there may be an issue with win 98 preventing seamless from running
I learnt this just recently from skippy
He can not run any version of seamless that has been compiled with the new compiler I started using this year so I will look into seeing if there is some setting I can set to make it friendly for win98.
I fixed a similar problem for winxp users who were missing a windows system file recently

I modified the protocol a bit since the mixed3d seamless party.

You probably cant log in with an old url from that time because I simplified the structure for chat urls only a few months ago
The party worldUrl url is the same as the deafult url:
http://www.seamless3d.com/http://www.seamless3d.com/wrl/my_world/my_world.smls

You can paste in the url using Control V to paste or another way to get this default url is to delete your seamless3dSetup.wrl file
it is located in the folder:
My Documents\Seamless3d\Application Data For Seamless3d

The seamless server is running nearly all the time now

Your worldUrl field still contains some old text.
All you have to do is delete the text and spaces to the left and right until all you have left in your worldUrl field is:
