| Sorry for not replying sooner Alain, I rarely find much uninterrupted time on the computer over the Christmas period and have been backing up lots of stuff, upgrading to windows 7 (which I am still getting use to using) and I have been working on adding a new feature to seamless, Inverse Kinematics which I think is important to have for creating walk animations and on top of all this we have had our share of the floods though nothing too serious. Anyway finally I found an opportunity last night to show the latest works made by your students to Ep, my youngest sister and her 2 little ones, Xavier (3 years old) & his younger brother Yale on Ep’s computer. We were all very impressed by all the models. Please tell your students Alain they have all done very well and please tell Melanie I would love to put a picture of her work on the seamless3d gallery page (if that is ok by her) as it much deserves to be there. I must make updating the gallery a priority for this year ! I love the Christmas tree, the lamp and the DUMENiEU man. Making the 3D font for “DUMENiEU” must have taken some time in seamless to do but it is completely original and looks great ! Your students models inspired Xavier to make something with seamless, he wanted to make the rabbit and write his name “Xavier” in 3D too I thought a great place to start would be to show him how to make the simple yet attractive face made out of 7 spheres as seen in 4Aorlane_yolene_marine_martin.wrl. After I made a simular face I showed Xaviar how to colour the spheres using the colour palette window and the rectangle selection tool. He soon was able to colour it all by himself so that was very exciting to see. Creativity is contagious Thanks much Dear Alain | |

| LOL thanks But , indeed I thought that the last year gaves us more simple works than 4 years ago . But it is may be because I am too much used to do that with pupils ... I guess you understood that I used vrmlpad to group some of the stuff they made , but I change nothing on their struff .. For sure you can use Melanie 's stuff , I will tell her , sure she agrees Or others ones . Btw I do like to show the forum's , yours and mine , where they have their links , LOL ... OK for the next new tricks on seamless , I am waiting LOL ps I checked if you have probs with the sort of tsunami in Australie , but it seems the probs are more north from you ... Anyways , it is sad ... | |

| Thanks very much Jicer and thanks again for all the photos you took of my party Alain, they look great ! Its great I now know how to start the server thanks to Ash The last few weeks I have been experimenting with Stitching NURBS patches together to create new hair for Lucy I ended up stitching the 31 locks (each lock a nurbs patch) to the base patch of the hair. Being a fan of clay animation I am very happy with how the stitching makes the hair look like one could imagine the hair has been moulded out of plasticine or clay: More photos of Lucy’s new hair can be seen on this thread: http://seamless3d.com/thread.php?t=81 | |

| Thanks Jicer I did not write the forum myself, my brother Steve wrote it. It is written in . I know very little programming myself but to my understanding anyone who knows coding well, can easily begin with a very basic forum and add more features to it later. There are now many free alternative forums to phpBB that are simpler: http://www.mitchelaneous.com/2010/05/31/9-best-phpbb-alternatives/ I tried out bbPress and found it easy to install and it seemed simpler to use than my old phpBB 3 forum. However the big problem with using a popular forum, the code will be vulnerable to spam bots (because the code will be known by everyone). This is the big advantage of writing your own code like my brother has. The time you spend writing your own forum may actually save you time from weeding out robot spam but it will take most programmers at least a few weeks to write a forum with all the features my brother has now added. If however you enjoy programming it may be a fun journey starting with a very basic forum and adding more features over time. You also get to add the features you most want this way PS I did create the smileys | |

| Hi Alain, Jicer and All Seamless3d 2.169 is ready for download. It has a number of new features Including Inverse Kinematics: Please if you have time Alain check out my new tutorial: Introduction to Inverse Kinematics As the IK beginner stuff should be very easy for anyone to use, the biggest stumbling block will be setting up the IK fields for the Part nodes correctly so please pay attention to what the robot does I think you should also find the NurbsTrack fun to play with: This feature can be used for animating objects like cars, trains, aeroplanes etc. and for animating IK control points. One of the interesting things about this kind of animation, is you can modify your animation while the anim bar is playing. For how to use this new exciting and friendly animation aid, see Folowing a Curvy NURBS Path for Animation | |

| Hi Alain I have uploaded 2.170 as a followup to 2.169 to make it easy to convert IK, Nurbs defined paths and complex scripts to BVH and to be able to easily import this back to your model, This means you can in a sense export IK and the NurbsTrack to vrml and keep the geometry. I have written a simple tutorial to show how to convert IK to FK for 2.170: http://seamless3d.com/convert-ik-to-fk/index.html The same can be done in this tutorial for exporting a NurbsTrack and or animations that use complex scripts except there wont necessarily be any need to untick the IK fields but that would do no harm if you did | |

| Subject: Lucy on the Catwalk 3D Movie with Speech Thu 15 Dec - 14:15 | |
| Hi LouiZe forum, hope your doing well Alain ? I finally got my movie uploaded https://youtu.be/aFpPcufA8SA Last year I mentioned on this forum (I think perhaps the first place anywhere in public) I was working on an idea that would let the artist synthesize speech with expression using nurbs patches, at the end of this year I finally have an example of this being used in this movie. All of the Imagery and Audio in this movie was modelled and synthesized using Seamless3d. It is probably the first movie in the world where NURBS have been used to synthesize all of the speech. I sounds a bit like my me and Lucy sounds a bit like my sister Anita because I used my voice and my sister's voice to guide the sculpting of the tones and noises. Please listen in stereo to get the full sound experience. Hope you enjoy watching it | |
