| No worries Alain, it will be interesting to see if English speaking people can understand what they say, I have listened to Lucy’s words over and over again for most of this year so my ears are so use to what she says its hard for me to be sure what she sounds like to others who have not heard her before. Lucy should be more clear than Thyme’s words as thyme is shouting. Lucy in contrast being calm and rational is pronouncing her words more correctly.
ok here are the words:
Thyme: Oh my God this catwalk is Crazy ! Thyme: LUCY ! WATCH YOUR STEP ! (meaning be careful, don't fall) Lucy: I always work professionally thyme | |

| hi samd :)You got most of the words correct, one thing I must clarify though, when Lucy says "thyme" she means my name not "time" as in time of day. Both these words sound the same in English so you had a good intelligent guess | |

| This wont work for VRML Alain because it is using IK (Inverse Kinemetics) which VRML/X3D has no inbuilt support for. You could export the IK to a BVH file and import the BVH to a FK (Forward Kinematics) model and then export to VRML. My world stopped revolving around VRML a long time ago, how many are still using it? I think more in terms of making movies these days, that's what excites me.

| Thanks very much Alain for testing out the demo, your the first I know of who has done this Seamless has accumulated all sorts of features specialised for VRML/X3D, I know of no other modeller that has as much support for VRML/X3D but I find it a bit depressing when people think seamless is limited to VRML but I guess it is understandable why this happens. I will try to be in seamless chat on Christmas 9:30 French time which will be the morning of Boxing day (the day after Christmas day) for me | |

| lol samd Actually Alain has been making movies longer than I You can see some of the movies he has made on his channel: https://www.youtube.com/alaindum I have played with the idea of making movies when I first began to play with Pov-Ray back in about 1996 but I did not think it was a very practical idea then as there was very little support for getting your movies seen by an audience. After youtube gained popularity I started to entertain the idea of making movies again but the quality or resolution of youtube was not very good for a number of years. I like to think seamless is up to now making movies without needing a lot more programming. I want to focus more on making movies than developing the software to do it from now on. I will continue to develop seamless and refine it as I use it but at a pace slow enough to let the fun times begin | |

| I wrote that sketch last night, now I copy it : dear samd, we had a good friend, Thyme and me , she said that in 3d real time, vrml or other way, the spectator build his own "story" by moving in the 3d. In a movie the "story" is controlled by the artist who makes it . I think that is right. You are more "free" , as a spectator, in a 3d than watching a movie. On the other hand , this "story" here http://www.parallelgraphics.com/vrml/duel/ is technicaly very intersting, but may be it could be done as a movie more than a 3d world. Some times I plaied with the NavigationInfo { type "NONE" } and a no right-click It is as to be a dictator , LOL Anyways I am sure that Thyme understand that old friends know seamless3d for vrml, so HE as to show all the new features to the World ! I think I understand a bit the movie way , because I always asked me ( I was a painter most of my life , you know) "what are you doing with 3d , alain ? " And really I have no idea , LOL Or just that one : paintings , 3d, movies ..are just ways to "create", instead of watching the TV with a beer

| Since 3 years I ask 14 old pupils to create something about "painting and web". I started the idea because of http://mixed3d.free.fr/spip/?cat=30 and http://mixed3d.free.fr/spip/?cat=28 The question is not easy because they have to really paint with a real brush , AND to tell something about what they feel and remember about their practise of the internet. Today a girl gave me that below. It is really a canvas and a real toy. One year ago she was with me using seamless 3d. That means that: she has memory ! She still have seamless on her puter. She is intelligent !!! Sometimes I am very happy at school ps : she wrote : "as seamless3d makes 3d , I have putten the rabbit to be loot around it too " . . . .

| Hi Alain the paintings look great, lol I love the little lucy icon and other symbols she has painted please tell your pupil who painted them I am very touched by them and please thank the others who made the 3d animals, they look very creative and cute Its a great inspiration for me to carry on with my work making seamless easier for beginners including children which I have been doing with my time while offline, I cant wait to show the new fraatures off when they are ready . Afraid we are still having a lot of trouble getting online. This is a real pain as a quarter of a year has now passed while we wait for our new satellite dish. Our phone was put out of order at a critical time causing us to miss a phone call by the work man who was to install our new dish today Arrrrg !!!! We are hoping now in a weeks time we may have another chance of him coming to our area. Its bound to flood or something then with the luck we have been having arrg lol. Getting online with an old dialup modem has not been much fun as my old hard drive I am using for the old modem keeps crashing and for all my trouble most of the emails I have received are spam. Looks like I have missed my own birthday party as Miranda has not responded to my last reply letting her know I now have dialup (just) The paintings by your pupil however are a bright spot in all of this, a real joy to see thanks much for posting dear friend thyme PS showed your photos to Ep, she loves them too

| hi Thyme, re Alain, Glad to know that you guys have your connection probs solved. Can't wait to see your new version of seamless3D Thyme. I would like to suggest, if possible: (1) that in seamless3D vrml export (for avatars) you include again the field with gestures list (I think it was there once). It would simplify their use in servers for beginners with no coding skills exposedField MFString gestureNames["Hello","Laugh",..., "Pose_homme","Walk joi1mn",] (2) Another suggestion is the walk animation. When I played with seamless avatars (and also importing and exporting from Avatar Studio 2) I had to code a short clumsy script (similar to the one from AS1 avatars) to see them walk, but I remember pyth7 saying somewhere that once seamless exported with a walk script (?). Best wishes vcard | |

| hi vcard I never removed the feature that lets seamless export gestures for a blaxxun platform. You have to put all your anim nodes (those that contain the gestures) inside a GestureGroup node for your gestures to trigger automatically for a blaxxun platform. When you import a blaxxun avatar studio avatar you will see seamless will automatically put all the gestures inside a GestureGroup.
The walk animation is imported just like the geatures are but none of the scripts are imported so the walking wont trigger for a blaxxun platform without adding your own walk scripts manually. As far as I remember the scripts can be added to the smls file directly so that you don’t have to edit the vrml file after each time you export and it should be possible to import walking scripts into your avatar from a smls file that contains the walking scripts. I never decided to import blaxxun avatar studio scripts as they are complicated to figure out and I am not sure what the legal issues are for importing scripts and are blaxxun specific (not standard vrml/x3d).
Many years ago before seamless had the anim bar, seamless just modified the geometry and a few fields in a blaxxun avatar studio wrl file and so the walking scripts would work (but they they never got imported this way) but this was a very unorthodox and problematic way of doing things for a modeller.
Best wishes

| There was a time when you had to have your avatar inside a blaxxun avatar proto in the smls file if you wanted to export gestures for blaxxun and perhaps (I don't remember) seamless use to import this proto along with the field that has the gesture names when importing a blaxxun avatar studio av but this made things complicated for the artist as they had to deal then with a proto and I never found the need for this field that contained gesture names as the gestures were not triggered by the names contained in this file. (for blaxxun the gesture key words are contained in an offline file) I got rid of this complexity by making seamless export the proto automatically when a GestureGroup is used in the smls file. | |

| Hi Thyme, Thanks for your answer. 1) Yes seamless imports and exports the gestures well. No prob with that. You gessed in your later post that I was referring only to "one" line with the list of gesture names that is not there anymore: exposedField MFString gestureNames["Hello","Laugh",..., "Pose_homme","Walk joi1mn",] Yes, the gestures are not triggered by the names but ... Babelx3d/ABnet uses this line to read the gesture names and put them in a menu (with names instead of numbers, un peut plus simpa non? ). Will work well if we add it manually to seamless exported code so, why not having it back on seamless exported files?. 2) Ok, I understand your explanation about the walk anim involved issues. One question related with my previous 2 questions: Is it possible to have in seamless the vrml export definitions in a "external" file (similar to what happens in AS2 with avatar.ASTmpl) so anyone could change it to automatically generate output adapted to our own needs? Thanks again and keep up the good work vcard | |
