| Alain and Isa you are both 100% right, it was the BendyLathe, not what I had suspected sorry. At least it had nothing to do with the ModelMorpher and this bug was very simple to fix and it is ok to use 2 (and hopefully any number of) parts 2.131 is ready for download (French and English). This version has the bug fixed which would cause 2.130 to not be able to open a file saved containing a BendyLathe. There was nothing wrong with how the file was saved just 2.130 was unable to initialize the node after loading a file. This version will be able to open any such file. Many thanks to Isa for her speedy report of this bug. In addition to this important bug fix, 2.131 has some of the demos modified for the new features. The Textured Demo now uses a NurbsLathe and the 2 demos Beeline to Animation and Bring a Static Model to Life now use the part's pivotPoint field instead of using CenterJoint nodes. These 3 demos are significantly simplified but now I need to update the tutorials. - Alain wrote:

all crashes / closes O this sounds even worse Alain. For me the BendyLathe is fine until after I save and try to reopen. Hopefully the bug is related to what I have fixed so please test the new version Alain.

| Bravo for your help Alain both here and on the Seamless3d forum Nice flower Isa, I don't know why Seamless outputs it like this for VRML Please send me the smls file so I can see what the problem is so that I can fix it. Check you send the .smls file and not the smls.bak or the smls.old please. Have you tried your Shakira file in the new 2.131 ? it should work now. | |

| well , isa , from your "fleur.smls" .... by deleting step by step pieces from the tree , puis/ then saving and outputing , I got the pieces in wrl and put them together in vrmplpad http://dumenieu.free.fr/louizeforum/seamless/refleurisa.wrl but it is not easy to re do the right translation , now ! ( and it doenst enter in spazz correctly ) so ...... if you re try from zero ..... I wonder/ je me demande if you could not do as that : Thyme will tell that it is no the right way , LOL , but if that way works ... at the end I just added a color to the first node , in vrmlpad , coz it had none so ex http://dumenieu.free.fr/louizeforum/seamless/refleurisa2.wrl | |

| I must write a tutorial on this subject Alain (I did try something like this once but is now out of date). The scene tree is designed with a number of basic windows explorer concepts if you think of the nodes as files. When you drag a node to a new location it "moves" the node (same as moving a file to a different folder) When you drag a node to a new location while holding down the control key, it makes a "copy" of the node (same as in windows when you drag a file with control held down) When you drag a node to a new location while holding down the Alt key, it makes a "reference" of the node (same as in windows when you drag a file with Alt held down but in windows it is usually called a "short cut" which is a reference) A reference in VRML is a USE. It's a great feeling when the universe feels a little smaller and within grasp? but this feeling is always short lived only to be replaced with a feeling that the universe is much bigger than once thought and well out of the grasp of any human brain I saw your morphing flower, looks great Sorry I am slow getting back to the other problems you and Isa have raised, I am also trying to see what is wrong with my forum as I can not log in as the administrator arrrg but I now know about phpMyAdmin just I don't know how to use it LOL | |

| I begin to understand the use thing http://www.seamless3d.com/tut/build_av/index.html - Quote :
- To add a reference from our CylinderBuild node to our pelvis part, hold down the ALT key and drag from the right of the pelvis's icon to the right of the CylinderBuild node's icon and release the mouse button first before releasing the ALT key:
from mathieu http://pagesperso-orange.fr/Matthieu/Seamless3d/Avatar_Seamless_index.html - Quote :
- Ainsi, pour ajouter la référence du cylindre constructeur à la partie Pelvis (tronc) maintenez enfoncée la clé ALT puis cliquez-tirez depuis la droite de l'icône Pelvis jusqu'à la droite de l'icône du cylindre constructeur, puis relâchez le bouton de la souris avant de relâcher la clé ALT:
So I made that http://dumenieu.free.fr/louizeforum/seamless/fleuruse.wrl http://dumenieu.free.fr/louizeforum/seamless/fleuruse.smls It seems not Ok to add a BezierLatheBuild to a buildGroup but it works with spheres etc after that I converted some nodes , and I had some probs , but I think that I am on a better way with "USE" , ALT key !

| I see you figured out how to reference / USE a node Alain using the build an av tut (which I had forgotten explains this sorry) . This tut explains the correct way to reference manually Alain but unfortunaly when I rewrite this tut (which I hope to do soon) it will no longer explain how to reference manually because this will be done automatically using the buttons from the horizontal bar (select part and press NurbsLathe) So I will need to write a tutorial that also explains how to reference nodes because this is a needed skill if you want to advance on to more advanced tasks like you are I did write this more recent tut some time last year for Lilly which also shows how to reference: http://www.seamless3d.com/tut/copy_inside/index.html and the same tut using menus instead of drag and drop which may be easier if you don't understand how to drag a node as a child, as a sibling or as a replacement of a node but I much prefer the drag and drop method unless I need to scroll the scene tree a long way because it is much faster and once you know how its less taxing on the intellect: http://www.seamless3d.com/tut/copy_inside/menus.html You probably already know this Alain but for others who don't, If you look at the seamless code in a text editor (like VrmlPad) you will see referenced nodes (USE) are coded exactly the same as VRML. | |

that one , for isntance It is seamless that is at fault here Alain Sorry not you. When you reference a Seamless node it behaves as a referenced node inside Seamless3d but it does not output as a referenced node like the other nodes because it is not so simple to do (it needs to be processed a lot) but I will make it so that a Seamless node does output as a USE like it should. If its very easy to do I will do this for the next version but if not it will happen when the time is right PS I have found recently the undo function (Control Z) works more reliably if I keep the undoCache clean. It seems some cache files get written as read only files and so this causes problems. I have not had the time to check why it saves some files as read only yet but I dare say its a simple to fix.
